◆ Fireworks will prevail in the event of other Cancellations.
Thayne, like all Wyoming communities, are adapting or canceling plans for the Independence Day celebration due to COVID-19.
With the community breakfast program and flag ceremony canceled, the fireworks program is still on the evening agenda, Saturday, July 4.
In the meantime, the annual parade remains in question, as the community seeks a health department variance.
Mayor Devin Simpson said a committee is assigned to the parade, exploring spacing with an extended route or alternative routes, while submitting calls to the Governor’s office, local legislators and county commissioners. “We don’t’ have the word if we are doing it or not officially doing it,” the mayor said as they made the contacts with officials. “We are working every way possible to get it done.”
Traditionally the Thayne Parade is one of the largest in the valley.
The Thayne Fire Department’s carnival was canceled previously over concerns of keeping all of the play equipment sanitized.
The Fireworks show will proceed in the evening with plans to expand the show as some events are canceled.
“As for our fireworks show, that is one-hundred percent on and we’re actually going to double down, if that is the only thing that happens,” the Mayor advised.
He suggested families could enjoy the event by watching from community center grounds and ball fields.
