◆ U.S. Secretary of Ag announces extension of free meals program.
Students and families in Lincoln County School District 2 will continue to benefit through the free school meals program.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has announced an extension of the free meals program to all children throughout the entire 2020-2021 Academic Year. The free meals program was originally going to end in December 2020.
According to LCSD2, the extension of the free meals program ensures that children across the nation have access to nutritious food as communities work to recover from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“For students in LCSD2 this means that breakfast and lunches will continue to be provided at no cost past the previous deadline of December 31, 2020,” a statement from LCSD2 said.
According to the school district, area schools have seen increased student participation in the district’s food services programs this year.
