A storm system that dropped several inches of snow across western Wyoming on Tuesday January 5 caused some traffic accidents over the Salt River Pass on U.S. Highway 89 between Afton and the Idaho border.
According to an alert sent out by the Wyoming Department of Transportation, at 4:31 a.m., there were “multiple crashes” with “travel lane[s] blocked near Afton from milepost 68 to 70. Be prepared to stop. Expect delays.”
Travelers through the area also contacted SVI stated that at least two semi trucks were involved in accidents.
The travel alert stating single-lane traffic was rescinded at 7:30 a.m.
Snow showers are expected intermittently on Tuesday morning with highs near 27 degrees. Additional snow accumulation should be minimal according to the National Weather Service.
