On January 8, 2021, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 201 on Interstate 90 east of Sundance, Wyoming. At 08:02 a.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a one-vehicle rollover.
A 1997 Ford F-250 was headed west on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the ice and snow-covered roadway. The vehicle exited the road and entered the median, where it overturned.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as 60-year-old Beulah, Wyoming resident Eric J. Carbaugh. Carbaugh was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
Speeding too fast for road conditions is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
This is the third fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 1 in 2020, 3 in 2019, and 1 in 2018 to date.
