Lincoln County, working with Y2 Consultants and a steering committee, plans to develop a 160-acre site on County Road 106 known as Stewart Trail. The ¼ square mile tract of land lies between Etna and Alpine and is owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
The county posted a public notice on its web site of its intent to develop the land, which requires an approved master plan from the BLM before it will permit use of federal land.
According to the web site: “The proposed area would include a variety of summer and winter activities, such as hiking and biking trails, cross-country skiing, archery, sledding, RV and tent camp sites, and rental use for private outdoor events such as weddings, reunions, and graduation parties. Other improvements include restrooms, driveway repairs and parking, and a cabin with water, electricity, and basic kitchen facilities.”
The website also welcomed public comments and suggestions and has planned an open house Thursday Feb 11th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. during which the county and Y2 Consultants will showcase the proposed plan and receive comments. The open house will be at the Alpine Civic Center, 121 US Highway 89, Alpine, Wyoming.
The meeting will also be simulcast and recorded on Zoom to allow area residents to participate safely if they so desire.
