◆ Sanderson, Erickson, Brog, and Dockstader honored. SVHS Art Show is May 6, 5-7 p.m.
New records were set by the students in the Star Valley High School Art program and an instructor was honored as Art Teacher of the Year at the 2021 Wyoming High School Art Symposium in Casper.
SVHS brought home 74 ribbons from the event that features schools of all sizes throughout the state.
Callin Sanderson was honored with a record setting 21 ribbons for his work, while Taylor Erickson had 12 ribbons for 12 entries and McKayla Brog won 13 ribbons with one of her pieces making the trip to Washington D.C. where it will hang in the office of U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney from Wyoming.
Emily Nelson was the First Lady Choice Award and Maddi Brown received the Student Choice Award for two-dimensional work.
Art Teacher Kim Dockstader received the award for Art Teacher of the Year for 2020. The honor was delayed by a year because the 2020 symposium was canceled due to COVID.
A more detailed feature, including the student’s winning art entries, will be carried in the May 5 edition of the Star Valley Independent.
Mark your calendars for May 6, when the annual Star Valley High School Art Show will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the auxiliary gymnasium.
