AV Fanatics opening soon in old Radio Shack store in Afton

AV Fanatics is looking to open another retail location, hopefully sometime in November in the old Radio Shack store in Afton.

Owner Jared Heiner opened his business in 2016 doing electronic installations and upgrades for the community. Home theater systems and holiday lighting has been the big focus recently along with internal network upgrades.

“Especially with over the homeschooling stuff and things like that,” Heiner said. “Making sure everything is up to par.”

The permanent holiday lighting is something he says is a lot of fun.

“I have yet to have a project that I have done that I’ve left that didn’t have a big smile on someone’s face,” Heiner said.

He even recalls a story of one customer who programmed his lights to display a certain color on his anniversary with his spouse. He admitted he is prone to forget that date.

“He was coming home and saw the lights,” Heiner said. “He pulled a u-turn, went back and got something for his wife.”

He says the Trimlight brand the company carries backs the product with a lifetime warranty of the item. He also says new technology allows you to program your lights anywhere in the world.

He says he wants to continue to provide the service Radio Shack was giving. He acknowledged that it has been an important resource for a lot of people.

“But we’re going to go above and beyond,” Heiner said. “The whole store is going to be customer interactive.”

He says tablets will be set up so you can test and see some of the automation features you can get. He also says they will have cell phones there so the community has somewhere else to go.

The store will also set up an acoustic room. This way the customer can test out speakers and such to how it actually sounds. It will also install car audio along with body enhancements to the vehicle such as lighting.

Heiner says AV Fanatics will also carry televisions and computers, however it may not carry all the basic lines for TV as Radio Shack did. There will be a part-time repair person who will be fixing some of those items.

“Because of that…this is my personal motto, I do not sell something I, personally, cannot stand behind,” Heiner said. “I can’t do it.”

He says he doesn’t want to do a disservice to the customer by offering something he cannot stand behind. So, there will be brand names like Acer and Lenovo for computers. There will also be TVs like LG, Samsung, and Sony.

While no official date for opening has been announced, he his hopeful some services can start being provided mid to late October. If not, then it should be early November.
