UPDATE: According to WYDOT multiple minor slides have occurred in the Snake River Canyon today. Maintenance crews have been able to keep the road clear and open up to this point. However, if slides continue to happen it is likely that the canyon will be closed.
Teton Pass is currently closed for avalanche mitigation (as of 1:35 p.m.) with an unknown estimated reopening time.
ORIGINAL: At 12:47 p.m. Thursday The Wyoming Department of Transportation reported an avalanche in the Snake River Canyon between Alpine and Jackson at Mile Post 129. WYDOT said drivers should prepare to stop and expect delays. SVI is looking for further information and will update this post when we have additional details.
WYDOT has issued a no unnecessary travel advisory today for the Snake River Canyon, due to blowing snow, slick roads and limited visibility.
