What was expected to be a very tough state tournament has lived up to the reputation on the first day. Star Valley has a slim 10.5 point lead over the Douglas Bearcats at the end of Friday.
The Braves ended Day One with 173.0 team points compared to 162.5 for Douglas. Pinedale is third with 119.0.

Star Valley put ten grapplers into the semifinals and five of them found their way into the finals on Saturday with Bridger Smith (113), Peyton Andrews (120), Winston Green (138), Zac Patterson (182) and Harrison Hoopes (195) punching their ticket to Saturday night.

Cameron Kendall (126), Chase Housley (152), Ryan Dunne (160), Brandon Beck (182) and Kysen Hebdon (285) will wrestle on Saturday to determine whether they wrestle for third place or fifth place.

Levi Byrd (106), Caleb Morrison (113), Kaleb Byrd (126), Porter Merritt (132) and Jacob Guild (145) will be competing in the third-round wrestlebacks starting at 9:30 a.m.

Senior Kaleb Fila suffered an injury in the quarterfinals and was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.

The Bearcats have four in the finals.
Star Valley is trying to win their seventh consecutive 3A team title before the program transitions to the 4A Class next season.

In 2A, the Kemmerer Rangers hold a big lead after Day One with 172.5 team points. Moorcroft is second with 118.0. Cokeville is nipping at their heels with 117.0.

The Rangers are in good position to win their first team championship with six into the finals including Karl Haslem (120), Roany Proffit (126), Connor Vickrey (132), Gabe Emery (138) Riggen Walker (145) and Landon Heaps (170) into the 2A Finals.

The Panthers have Garrett Reece (145), Cael Thompson (152) and Landon Walker (182) into the 2A Finals.

In the 4A Class, Natrona County is trying to defend their first ever title from last year and hold a big lead with 206.5 points compared to second-place Thunder Basin who sit at 164.5. Sheridan is third with 154.5.
