◆ SVHS Soccer heads to Rock Springs this Friday.
Despite having limited subs due to other school activities, the Braves Soccer team played two full contests in one day in Green River and came away with a pair of wins.
“I’m really excited about the way we started,” stated Head Coach Trevor Spencer. The boys came out with a lot of energy and just played awesome”
Kayson Haderlie scored a hat trick against Cheyenne South in a 7-2 Star Valley victory over the Bison. Kaleb Fila scored twice while Bailey Kallgren and Wyatt Dunn each notched a goal in the win.
“Last season we kind of struggled to score so to come out like that and put seven goals on the board was fantastic,” Spencer added.
The second game was against perennial power Laramie who came into the opening weekend of the season as the #5 squad in the Wyoming 4A Classification.
“Our second game against Laramie we expected a little stiffer competition,” Spencer said. “But our boys came out and played really well.”
Fila added another goal to his season goal as did Haderlie in a 3-1 Star Valley victory. Will Garcia scored the Braves’ third goal.
“They showed a lot of heart at the end of that game with two full contests in a day,” Spencer said. “They found the energy to keep going and defended really well. My defense played really well. Hunter Hillyard, Mason Brown, Brandon Beck and Gabe Peterson played every minute in both games.”
The Braves will be back in Sweetwater County this Friday as they take on the Rock Springs Tigers.
