A special music festival called Back Country Jam is coming to Afton for the first time June 17 and 18 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

Organizer of the event, Kaitie Vigna, says she wanted to put this on because we all need something to do here, but she also hopes to see people travel to come to this festival.

“That will come and then leave, not want to move here,” Vigna quipped. “And I think this is something that will attract the younger generation.”

She says she really made an effort to try and get as many musicians from Wyoming.

“Because we have so much talent in our state,” Vigna said. “And I want to be the biggest supporter of everything Wyoming.”

The lineup will consist of many country performers such as Kellen Smith and the headlining act in Chancey Williams. There will also be Ryan Charles who participated in American Song Contest which debuted March 21st. His music combines country and rap to represent Wyoming.

“I am like blown away on how fast he’s blowing up,” Vigna said.

She says there will be acts from areas near Lincoln County as well such as EllieMae from Idaho Falls. Other musicians like Tanner Usrey will also play. His songs have been featured on the TV series Yellowstone. There will also be the 2021 American Idol winner in Chayce Beckham.

“I’ve always been curious is it as good as it is on TV,” Vigna said about Beckham. “And now we finally get to find out.”

The music will start Friday June 17th from 4 PM to 10 PM. Then Saturday June 18th it will be 11 AM to 10 PM. She says there will be many vendors there as well at the event.

“We have the best craft-makers possible coming to this,” Vigna said. “We have people from Arizona, Texas, it’s going to be a heck of a time.”

She says there will be an option to purchase tickets and camping at the fairgrounds. She also says there will only be weekend passes. So, if you purchase a ticket you will be buying it for both days. However, there will be four different options for those passes and she hopes she can just get as much community support as possible.
