The 4A West Regional Track Meet concluded in Casper on the campus of Natrona County High School. The Lady Braves placed third as a team with 89.0 team points. Cody was second with 98.0 and the hometown Fillies ran away with the meet with a total of 224.0 total points.

Senior Sara McKen claimed a trio of first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 Meter runs and as part of the 4 x 100 Meter Relay. McKen placed in a fourth event as her team in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay placed third.

The 4 x 100 squad has been tough to beat all season as they claimed yet another meet to their list. McKen, Valeri Jirak, Kammi Merritt and Avery Hanberg comprise the quartet which set a new school record earlier this year.

Ava Morgan placed second in the 100 Meter Hurdles for the next highest finish for the team.

Freshman, Habtamu Wetzel had an impressive weekend as he claimed both the 1600 and 3200 Meter events at his very first Regional meet. Senior John Hunting claimed a pair of second place finishes in the 800 Meter and as part of the Spring Medley. Colt Sotelo nabbed a second-place finish in the Shot Put.

As a team, the Braves scored 68.5 points which put them fifth overall. Natrona won the double championship as their boys score 169.0 team points. Evanston was second with 132.5, followed by Rock Springs who was next with 109.0.

The SVHS Track and Field team will back in Casper this next week, this time at Kelly Walsh High School.
