◆ Afton FD puts fire out on truck, conducts mop up.

The Afton Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 145 Twin Spruce Lane Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:42 p.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Cody Wilkes reports, “Upon arrival they found a semi truck on fire in the enclosed building.

“Entry was made from the removal of an overhead door and the fire was extinguished.

“This was in the mechanic shop to the side of Poly Guard. The semi was pulled out of the building to mop up any hidden fire.

“The structure sustained some damage to the roof and interior and the semi was probably a total loss.”

Wilkes advised, “Early detection kept the fire mostly contained to the mechanic shop.

The Afton Fire Department responded with 17 fire fighters and multiple EMS joined the emergency call.

The Assistant Fire Chief reported, “The fire likely stemmed from an electrical issue on the semi they had worked on earlier in the day.”
