◆ Top of the Rockies does more than snowmobile.
Andrea Burchard spoke with SVI about their recent accolade being named Wyoming State Snowmobile Association Club of the Year and some of what Top of the Rockies (TOTR) is involved in this year.
Burchard emphasized that the club is not just about snowmobiling. “It looks like a snowmobile club, but we’re really a year- round recreational club.”
She shared how the fundraising portion of the club used to be a summer food tent, but they partnered up with the American Legion in Alpine two years ago. They work together to do BINGO nights to help raise money for both parties.
“It’s rewarding to work with the American Legion and see the variety of community members that come,” says Burchard.
Throughout the year, the club is able to host fundraisers as a 501(c)(3) organization. For example, there may be someone with cancer who needs financial help.
Burchard shared one of her favorite things about TOTR is Community Give Back.
If someone is in need, it has been brought to the TOTR attention and they will help where they can. They have purchased water heaters, furnaces, firewood, a computer for someone this past fall, and most recently helped an elderly resident who had problems with her dishwasher and toilets. They also worked with local plumbers and helping residents with their bills.
Every year, TOTR hosts a community Thanksgiving dinner. “It’s grown from something to help those in need, to more of a community event for people to come. Someone may be alone or only have a day off and not enough time to cook.”
