Competition will included mini concert from Bar J Wrangler Fiddler
Nine teenage singers from Star Valley have been selected to compete for a single $1,000 prize in this year’s Teen Vocalist competition. A selection committee picked the contestants from a group of auditions that were submitted in March.
The nine contestants include Brock Haderlie (16, Smoot), Isabel Hinton (17, Afton), Charlotte Crook (16, Thayne), Anson Robinson (16, Bedford), Vivian Barrett (14, SV Ranch), Andrew Jardine (17, Grover), Norrah Nielson (17, Afton), Carlee White (16, Afton) and Addie Waldron (18, Afton).
Teen Vocalist is scheduled to take place in the Star Valley High School Auditorium on Friday, April 21. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:00. The full event will also be broadcast live by SVI Media and will be free to watch at SVInews.com, TheVocalistUSA.com and on the Star Valley Independent Facebook page.
All nine Teen Vocalist contestants will sing a solo in the first round, with four contestants advancing to the second round to sing again. After the second round a winner will be announced, with the winner receiving a $1,000 check provided by Skyview Lanes & Cineplex.
Winners will be chosen by the vote by three on-stage judges, each making up 25% of the vote, with the in-person audience also voting via text message. The audience vote will combine for the remaining 25%. Voting details and instructions will be given at the event. Only those in attendance will be allowed to vote. Those watching Teen Vocalist on SVI Media’s live video broadcast will not be able to vote.
New to this year’s Teen Vocalist competition is the addition of Celebrity Guest Judge Tim Hodgson. Tim is the world renowned and award winning fiddle player for the Bar J. Wranglers, the former chuck-wagon bluegrass group from Jackson Hole. Along with being a judge, Hodgson and his current bluegrass band will perform a mini concert.
Two local judges will join Hodgson on stage, including 2022 Vocalist winner Daniel Lechner, who will also perform during the show, and vocal coach Kayleen Anderson.
Tickets for the event will only be available at the door. There will be a $5 charge to attend, with all current high school age students and younger getting in for free. For additional updates and details on Teen Vocalist, visit TheVocalistUSA.com or follow The Vocalist on Facebook and Instagram.
