Applications for Classroom Placement are now available on Lincoln County School District No. 2 elementary school websites and in the main offices of each school. For consideration, applications must be submitted to the requesting student’s school office by the end of the school day on April 27.
Parents with students attending elementary schools in LCSD No. 2 are invited each year to submit an application for placement of their child in a specific classroom under instruction from a specific teacher for the upcoming school year. Applications can be printed from the school website or picked up from the school office.
Application documents may be submitted via faxed, scanned and emailed, mailed via USPS or dropped off to the appropriate school office. Requests for classroom placement are only accepted through the application process. Discussions, notes, letters or phone calls with teachers or administrators are not considered to be a valid application. All requests must be submitted through the formal application process.
The following guidelines have been posted by elementary schools throughout the district:
• Every classroom in each grade level offers the same exposure to the curriculum. Students are frequently grouped based on performance and are with teachers other than their assigned classroom teacher.
• The process for making classroom assignments for the following year is time-intensive and very complex; ensuring students are considered individually for how they will succeed based on teaching style, learning style, interaction with peers in the classroom, student strengths, and teacher strengths. Most importantly, building balanced classes and working with special learning needs is a higher priority than parent requests.
• Parent input is only one determining factor, not the only determining factor in placement. While officials work hard to consider parent input, placement from parent input is not guaranteed. Teachers and administrators consider all students’ needs when it comes to the placement of each and every student in the classroom.
• More than one request per student will not be considered.
• Application forms that are incomplete will not be honored.
• Applications received after the due date, including applications received after posting of classroom assignments, will not be considered.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact your building principal.
