KSL’s own Jeremiah Jensen joined Aaron and Dahl on last week’s edition of First Bank Of Wyoming Sports Friday to discuss all the happenings this offseason with the Utah Jazz, what’s going on with Utah’s collegiate sports outlook for this coming year, and Salt Lake potentially getting an expansion MLB team. Not too long ago Taylor Kilgore came on the show to tell any Utah Jazz fans that may be sad that their team didn’t make the postseason this year to give the Denver Nuggets bandwagon a try and Dahl Erickson decided to do just that though Jeremiah states early into the interview that he would not be choosing any such route and would simply be watching to appreciate NBA basketball.
The discussion was initially a fan-fest for Nuggets center Nikola Jokic who has been absolutely insane this postseason adding multiple triple-doubles to his career resume as the Nuggets have now booted the Suns from the playoffs and will have a rematch with the Los Angeles Lakers from the 2020 Western Conference finals coming up this week. Jensen also went on to bring up that despite the 2 MVP’s recently for Jokic he may still be one of the most under appreciated players in the league and this postseason is showing some people that may not have been converted in the past to the Jokic hype exactly why he won those awards.
As for one of the biggest stories in Utah sports as of recently regarding the possible expansion of the MLB by moving a team or placing a team in Salt Lake City, Aaron proposed a trade with Salt Lake that Chicago should simply send the White Sox to the Mountain time zone and 35th street in downtown Chicago should be the one to get an expansion team to save Aaron from having to root for the disappointing Sox team. Jensen however was all for it stating that while the team may be disheartening to watch that the accompanying “drip” as he described it would make it worth it as the people of Utah would get to get their hands on those Sox hats and merchandise.
As for realistic team possibilities, the Buzz and Bees were the most popular name choices to continue that tradition of baseball in Salt Lake for an expansion team and the complex that has been proposed which has many people in the area very excited. There is also a lot of transfer portal news effecting Utah and Utah State which Jeremiah goes into and BYU will be joining the Big 12 this coming season which will be a big change for the former independents and it should create some entertaining potential matchups for the 2023 season.
