Lynn was born on April 12, 1936, in Smoot Wyoming (Forest Dell), to his father Wilford Austin Porter, and his mother Alice Elnora Johnson. After attending BYU he met a cute beautician and married his eternal companion Seloma Cluff on June 15, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple.

In between bus routes, Lynn worked the Open Box L Ranch in Grover Wyoming which he owned and operated for 43 years before moving to Utah. Many fond memories were built in Star Valley Wyoming.
Lynn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was called as a missionary to the Northern States Mission. Lynn served in many other various church callings. Throughout his life, he loved helping and serving his neighbors. After retirement, he enjoyed memorizing and reciting cowboy poetry, making knives, and looking for projects that he could custom-make. Lynn enjoyed watching BYU football and the Utah Jazz with his family. Lynn and Seloma cherished, honored, and celebrated 62 years of marriage last month. Dad’s favorite pastime is doing projects with his three sons.
