A new fire truck will formally be added to the Thayne Fire Department’s fleet on July 19 with an official rollback ceremony.
This is a traditional program when a truck is added to a fire department by pushing the vehicle back into a parking bay by hand.
The new truck will serve Thayne, Star Valley Ranch and surrounding rural area.
The first rollback will be held in Thayne at 7 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. at Star Valley Ranch.
Thayne Fire Chief Tedd Jenkins said the department is “excited” to add the truck and he credited past Fire Chief Toby Merritt for “ramrodding” the truck project through with the department and district.
He credited the department for working with the manufacturer on specifics of the truck .
The new fire truck is four-wheel dive. “It’s a great addition to our fleet as it carries 2,000 gallons of water and certifies as a Class A pumper,” Chief Jenkins explained.
