Head Wrestling Coach Mark Branch announced the 2023-24 schedule Wednesday morning. The Cowboys will host seven events at home including three duals against ranked opponents along with hosting one tournament at home. The schedule features a total of 13 duals including six duals against opponents ranked in pre-season top 25.
The Pokes will open their season on Nov. 5 as they host NJCAA powerhouse Western Wyoming before heading to California for a pair of duals against CSUB and Big 12 conference foe California Baptist.
In December, the Cowboys will split their time between duals and tournaments opening the month with the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 1-2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following that they will take a trip to Columbia, Missouri to face No. 3 Missouri on Dec. 8 before returning to Nevada for the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 17. The Cowboys will then be back home on Dec. 19 as they play host to Big 12 rival No. 12 Oklahoma State.
The month of January will see the Pokes on the road for four duals including a showdown against Big Ten powerhouse No. 5 Nebraska as well as a face off against Front Range Rivals Northern Colorado. The Cowboys lone home appearance of the month will come on Jan. 12 when they will welcome Big 12 foe Air Force to the Uniwyo Sports Complex.
The Cowboys will round out their regular season with four straight events home including three straight duals before capping off the home stand by hosting the Cowboy Shootout on Feb. 17.
Wyoming will open their postseason with the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma March 9-10. They will then close out their season with the NCAA Championships which are set to be hosted in Kansas City, Missouri March 21-23.
