A house fire in Auburn Saturday morning was a controlled burn training exercise, according to the Afton Volunteer Fire Department.
Chief Cody Wilkes said the home, which was located on the small hill in the meadow northeast of Auburn, had been used for training by firefighters and was purposely burned down.
“The training was simulating what we may find on structure fires. Keeps us ready for the real thing,” said Wilkes.
