Citing extremely slick road conditions as well as fog, law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to six different crashes in less than 90 minutes time on Tuesday morning. 

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the first crash was reported at approximately 7 a.m. at mile marker 105 on U.S. 89. 

Then two injury crashes took place at mile marker 94 in two separate single-vehicle rollovers within a 200-foot span. One reported injury was a compound fracture of an arm. Property damage was also reported. 

The next was a two-vehicle crash at the Grover corner at the intersection of Highway 237 and US 89. A vehicle went through the intersection and struck another. 

Then at mile marker 92 in Afton, a seven to nine car pileup took place with some injuries being reported. The extent of those injuries is unknown at this time. 

According to the WHP, Troopers are not seeing high speeds with this accidents but the roads were deemed extremely slick.

“They are skating rinks out there,” said Trooper Mike Merritt. “The plows are out and it’s freezing as fast as they can put the treatment down. They are trying their best.”

First responders are on the scene of a two-vehicle accident on US 89 near the Grover Post Office. 

Early reports indicate driving conditions are being affected by thick fog and a thin layer of ice from an overnight dusting of snow. 

In addition, a single-vehicle rollover has taken place near Afton as officials also respond to the scene. 

Since those reports which took place just prior to 8 a.m., two more accidents have been reported between the narrows and Afton. Black ice is reportedly a factor.
