• Commission proposed to move operations south.

Discussion continues regarding the Gateway West Transmission Line which would be located south of Cokeville. According to Lincoln County Commissioner Kent Connelly, the next step in the process will be this summer.

“We will start having the public meetings this summer,” he said. “We are still pushing to keep that in what we call the corridor. That’s progressing ahead and people can read about it as we get another update in about a month.”

Rocky Mountain Power and Idaho Power proposed the project which will include 1,000 miles of new high-voltage transmission lines between the Windstar substation near Glenrock, Wyoming and the Hemingway substation near Melba, Idaho. The current plan is to have it pass through south of Cokeville.

Concerns have previously been raised that such a project would encircle all of Cokeville in power lines.

Former Commissioner Robert King previously spoke about the changes in permitting for such a project.

“These types of lines required 1,500 feet of space between them. Now that has been updated to 250 feet,” he told SVI Media.

So a proposal to move the lines south of town was made.
