In 2023, Food Bank of Wyoming distributed nearly 10.8 million pounds of food to neighbors across Wyoming, thanks to strategic partnerships and generous donations from businesses and individuals statewide. As some Wyoming neighbors in need are confronted with the difficult choice between buying enough food or paying rent, community members can help support neighbors seeking food assistance by making an online donation to Food Bank of Wyoming’s Annual Fund.
With just $1, the Food Bank can provide enough food for three nourishing meals for Wyoming individuals and families facing food insecurity. This impactful metric demonstrates how donated dollars have major purchasing power through Food Bank of Wyoming. It’s due to the organization’s robust purchasing capability, Food Rescue Program, federal government allotments, donations, and lower bulk pricing from agricultural and retail partners, that $1 can and does make a tremendous difference for neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
“At a time when 1 in 9 adults and 1 in 8 children in Wyoming are experiencing food insecurity, donations to our Annual Fund help us purchase more food so we can reach as many people across Wyoming as possible. Ultimately, $1 helps provide enough food for three meals because of the way we are able to leverage the power of donated food,” said Director of Development, Jill Stillwagon. “Also, we are purchasing food for much less than what the average person would spend at the grocery store. This helps us stretch donors’ dollars that much further.”
When a donation is made to Food Bank of Wyoming, 100% of those funds stay in Wyoming and 96¢ of every dollar goes directly into programs that address food insecurity. By donating to Food Bank of Wyoming’s Annual Fund, the organization can continue to foster partnerships and programs with the most expansive reach, high-level coordination, and local impact.
In fact, Food Bank of Wyoming collaborates with more than 150 Hunger Relief Partners across Wyoming, including food pantries, community centers, and other organizations, to meet local food needs. Food Bank of Wyoming also partners with programs that distribute food specifically to kids and older adults as well as 19 Mobile Pantries across Wyoming, which is all made possible through financial contributions.
