• Ten young artists will vie for the $250 cash prize.
Star Valley Kids Got Talent is hosting their second annual competition tomorrow, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the Ford Theatre. Ten local youth artists will take the stage to compete for the $250 grand prize.
Contestants submitted audition videos online by March 10 and were selected as finalists by March 14. The program will feature vocal solos, dance solos, instrumental solos, and acts where a vocalist also accompanies themselves.
“There’s a wide variety of numbers,” said Brandon Burnham, who represented Salt River Arts in an interview with SVI Media. “We are looking at 12 children, junior high ages 12 to 14 years old. It gives these kids a chance to get on the stage and share their talents and passions with us. It’s a super, fun event.”
Mr. David Cazier will serve as host for the evening, and a judging panel will be on stage to give encouragement and feedback to each contestant. The winner of the competition will receive the grand prize of $250, but additional cash prizes will be awarded to other contestants in various categories, such as “Best Music” and “Best Movement”.
“We try to give the kids extra motivation to get up and perform and win a prize for their particular category,” explained Burnham. “We do have a couple of returning contestants, which is great because they participated last year and they’re coming back again this year.
“If you have young kids that have a budding talent that they’re trying to practice and learn, come and watch other kids their age perform,” Burnham encouraged. “Inspire them to participate next year. The purpose here is to spotlight the kids and to help them feel confident, and gain a little bit of stage presence. Come out and show support for the kids and the arts in general. This is an entertaining show and it’s a great family event.”
