SVI Media toured the additions underway for the Alpine facilities of Star Valley Health.
SV Chief Operating Officer Mike Hunsaker answered the following questions on the addition.
Alpine new addition will include what new services?
The new space will include an Ambulatory (outpatient) Surgery Center and an Emergency Room. Initially, the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) will provide the community and extended areas in the region, cardiac catheter procedures (stents, pacemakers, etc.), outpatient orthopedic procedures, pain management procedures, and upper and lower GI endoscopy procedures. Additional outpatient surgical services will be offered in the future at this location.
Additional space now in Alpine? SVH is finishing the 10k sq ft of space shelled in 2021 and adding an additional 2300 sq ft of ambulance bay for pick-up and drop-off off emergency room patients delivered via ambulance. The space also includes decontamination space for hazmat emergencies.
Approximate cost? The new construction, including the medical equipment needed to operate a functional ASC and ER, has a cost of $15,000,000. Total investment in Alpine facilities will be $25,000,000.
Alpine addition completion date? We anticipate that SVH will begin to provide services at the new facilities in December 2024.
What does new addition do for Alpine? This new ASC and ER will bring much needed additional healthcare services to the fast-growing community of Alpine and surrounding areas. The outpatient surgery capabilities, especially the cardiac catheter capabilities, which are a first in western Wyoming, will have the potential to attract patients with cardiac needs from all over the region.
Also, the need for an emergency room in the area with so much activity and recreation will be a blessing to the residents and visitors in northern Star Valley. The new facilities will employ many additional hospital staff to support the service offerings.
Current SV Health services in Alpine
This new service offering in Alpine is a compliment to the Primary Care, Urgent Care and Specialty Care (Cardiology, Ear, Nose and Throat, General Orthopedics, Orthopedic Spine, OB/GYN, Dermatology) services already offered at the Alpine Clinic. The additional new ER and Surgery offerings will complement the current care teams already in place at the clinic.
