• Team falls to Casper schools.

The Braves had one close match and one that was tough to endure over the weekend as they traveled to Casper to take on the Trojans and Mustangs in the program’s first action since spring break.

On Friday, the team ran into #4 Kelly Walsh and had no answer in a 10-1 final. In other 4A West action, Rock Springs defeated Riverton 6-2 and #2 Jackson routed Natrona 9-0.

The team bounced back with a much closer outcome on Saturday as they lost in a close match to Natrona, 2-1. The Trojans picked up the mild upset of Jackson with a 2-1 final.

“The games this week were tough,” head coach Trevor Spencer replied. “Kelly Walsh has a fantastic program! They play a lot of soccer and it shows. They move the ball better than any team we have seen, and they are dangerous on any set piece. They are a good program for us to strive to be like in the future. The Natrona game was tough because we played well, but couldn’t come up with an equalizing goal after making a couple of mistakes and giving up 2 goals in a 2-1 loss. The bright spots over the weekend came on the Brandon Flores goal during the Kelly Walsh game, and the Kristoff Buehler goal in the Natrona game. We will continue to work hard in practice and improve each day.”

The Braves return home this week as they take on the #2 Broncs in a varsity match scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday. The team will also face the Riverton Wolverines on Saturday with a 2 p.m. varsity start. Jackson is ranked second in the latest Wyopreps.com Coaches and Media Poll.
