• Accepting donations now and throughout summer months. Only accepting hats, gloves, winter coats, snow pants and snow boots.

As the temperature rises and you trade in your snow gear for lighter attire like sandals and muck boots, consider putting your unused winter clothing to good use.

For the third consecutive year, Alison Rainey collaborates with local churches under the banner of Cross Valley Community Outreach to support individuals and families who may need an extra hand at the end of the year with staying warm. Cross Valley Community Outreach is comprised of Emmanuel Bible, Morning Star Baptist and River of Life.

Every year, in early October, a Fall Outerwear Giveaway event provides those in need with essential winter items. Rainey emphasizes that the only items they are currently accepting are hats, gloves, winter coats, snow pants and snow boots. She explains the process of what they do to prep the clothing for the giveaway saying, “Annually we gather clean, gently used winter gear donations and give them back–free to the community–in the fall, we do not have storage capacity to take on [other clothing items] as well at this time.”

“We are hoping to really beef up donations by starting early and collecting throughout the summer, especially for children’s sizes,” shares Rainey.

The donation process couldn’t be easier –You may choose to deliver them, or volunteers can schedule a time to collect your donations right from your doorstep. To donate or schedule a pickup of your donation, contact Alison Rainey via Facebook or text at (307) 248-8876.

Collections of items  will be accepted now and throughout the summer months, providing plenty of time to do some Spring cleaning and contribute unused items to serve the community. It’s a simple act of kindness that can have a profound impact on those on the receiving end.
