High School Rodeo Update

• Rodeos this weekend and next in Afton

Only one rodeo remains before the District Finals for local junior high and high school rodeo athletes. The remainder of the season will be in Star Valley as the final regular season event is this Friday and Saturday at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Next weekend the District Finals will also be at the fairgrounds, May 23-25.

This past Friday and Saturday local athletes competed in Grace, Idaho. Some of the highlights from the local high school age athletes include Kaylee Leseberg of Star Valley Ranch finishing with a time of 18.534 in barrel racing Friday, good enough for second place. Leseberg was coming off a 1st place finish in the same event from the weekend before.

Brooklyn Brown of Afton finished top 10 in Goat Tying both days with a time of 10.680 on Friday, putting her into 9th place, and 9.940 on Saturday for an 8th place finish.

In team roping, brothers Ryder and Case Kerr of Afton came in fourth place on Friday with a time of 14.520 and second place on Saturday with a 7.830. The Hilton Brothers from Afton, Tristen and Ross, finished sixth on Saturday in team roping after a time of 14.940.

Case Kerr also finished 4th in Tie Down Roping on Friday, with a 24.310. He improved that time on Saturday to 12.480 putting him in 2nd place on the day.
