• Jordyn Roberts saves for college.

After countless weekend bakes with her family as judges, Star Valley High School senior Jordyn Roberts has officially launched The Rookie Cookie Shack in the Afton Bomgaars parking lot. Open Monday through Saturday from 12-6 p.m., this new venture offers a range of traditional and innovative cookie flavors, showcasing Jordyn’s mastery of the art of baking.

These melt-in-your-mouth, chewy cookies are a great option for an indulgent treat, or thoughtful gift. In fact, just before our conversation with Jordyn, a customer chose cookies over their usual store-bought birthday cake. This writer could not agree more with this decision.

Among the delightful flavors, my personal favorites have to be the Heath Bar Crunch with it’s lovely texture and  toffee and  Hope’s Royale, packed with goodies, including chocolate chips, shredded coconut and macadamia. The other flavors are not far behind. If you are a fan of lemon bars, the Lemon Cooler is a fantastic choice, featuring a lovely white chocolate addition.

Roberts comes from a family that fosters an entrepreneurial spirit. Roberts shares, “I love playing sports, baking, exercising and spending time in the outdoors!“ With the active lifestyle she has, Roberts has also helped run a business with her older brother. After assisting her older brother in running a lawn mowing business to save for college, Roberts has now decided to do something new. Being the youngest, she no longer has the manpower to run the previously mentioned venture, so Roberts decided to combine something that began as a weekend hobby and turn it into her way to raise money for her future. After spending a couple of weeks building the shack with her dad, Roberts was ready to fill it with her confections, sold at $2.50/each.

If you have a craving for something sweet and/or want to help a young entrepreneur save for school, you can’t go wrong with your choices at The Rookie Cookie Shack.
