A group of community members has created the Star Valley Auto Club to have the ability to put on shows and gather support for charities and other causes.

This is different than a car club type according to group member Frank Vargas. He says it was about having an opportunity to let anyone bring something to show.

“If you had a kid who had a go cart, your boat, whatever, anything you worked on” Vargas said. “It’s essentially the working man’s car show.”

Another club member in Crystal Fredrickson says it could even be a stereo system you installed into your car you want to display.

There are a lot of young adults in this community,” Fredrickson said. “That are pretty happy to show off their items.”

Vargas says they decided to hold raffles for their events and just donate all the proceeds from it. It could go to families in need or a charity.

Fredrickson says they are involved in the Afton Parade on the 4th of July which starts at 5 PM. She says anyone interested in joining that can turn in a form or last-minute show ups are okay as well.

She says they will also be set up all day on Independence Day at the Salt River Soap Works parking lot, the Domino’s area, the parking lot across the street from Domino’s, and the Afton Car Wash.

“Anybody that wants to come park a car, or truck, or whatever to show off is more than welcome to,” Fredrickson said.

They say even if you don’t have something to display, you can also come see all the community members who do have something to show off.

The group will also have an event Aug. 17 called Hot Star Valley Nights at the Afton Broulim’s parking lot at 5 PM. A cruise will also begin at 6 PM. There will be the Alpine Car Show that will happen during the day and their event will happen through the evening.

Fredrickson says there will be a DJ from 307 Music at the event. The raffle and proceeds from that will go to the Afton Food Bank and Lucky’s Place.

If you are interested in joining or helping the group at all, you can join them on Facebook. They say as they do more shows they will need judges and other volunteers.
