The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) and a host of emergency responders reacted to a call on Friday afternoon of a single vehicle accident south of Smoot on US 89 near the location known to locals as the old Canyon Inn. The site of the accident was just north of that location at approximately 4:45 p.m.
According to information from the WHP, a 64-year old Utah woman driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata left the roadway and traveled through a fence and significant brush but did not roll the vehicle. The woman was transported for medical care while reporting lower back pain.
Troopers on the scene responded from both Jackson and Kemmerer. Information from the WHP state that they are uncertain whether the driver suffered a medical episode or simply fell asleep but reported that she was fortunate to be wearing her seat belt.
