An Elton John classic has been turned into a punk rock song by the early 2000’s rock band Simple Plan.
On Friday, July 12, the group released their spin on “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from the animated Disney film The Lion King. Upon it’s release the song jumped into the Top 10 in iTunes alternative charts.
The song is the first single off the upcoming Disney album A Whole New Sound, which will feature a full tracklist of alternative, rock and pop-punk bands reimagining Disney classics. The album does not yet have a release date, but will become available later this year.
The song is up for vote in this week’s Kick It or Keep It on SVI Radio. If voted to be kept it will be added to the Swift 98 playlist. Vote by texting (307) 203-4637. Voting will close at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 22.
