The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 13-year-old girl who went missing on the East Shore of Bear Lake was pronounced dead after being found.

On Saturday, July 20 just before 6:00 p.m. the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls regarding the missing girl.

“Marine Deputies and boats were in the area within minutes and began searching,” said Bear Lake County Sheriff Bart Heslington. “The female was located and immediately turned over to medical personnel. Despite heroic medical efforts the female was pronounced deceased at 9:00 p.m..”

“The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest sympathy to the family,” said Sheriff Bart Heslington. “And a heartfelt thanks to all first responders and the public who worked to try and locate the young lady. Tragically this incident emphasizes the importance of life jackets while engaging in water activities.”
