Star Valley Auxiliary fundraiser is Thursday in Thayne

• Guests can enjoy tacos and Bingo.

The Star Valley Health Auxiliary annual fundraiser is offering an evening of dinner and Bingo on Thursday, August 1 in The Barn at the Star Valley Ranch RV Park. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Two branches of Star Valley Health (SVH) are in need of new equipment to help them better serve the community, and the Auxiliary has chosen to dedicate funds from this event for the purchase of those items. “We are helping those two departments to improve the services the hospital offers,” said Mary Miller, SVH Auxiliary President, in an interview with SVI Media.

The Care Center needs to replace a lift that assists in raising and lowering residents as they sit and stand. The existing lift at the care center is worn out and needs to be replaced. This piece of equipment is a great support to staff members who are burdened when they are required to lift and carry residents by hand.

Additionally, the Auxiliary will be allotting funds to purchase a tent canopy with the SV Health logo on it for the Physical Therapy Department. SVH Physical Therapists are often on site at community events, such as high school athletics events, to provide medical support as needed, and the canopy will serve to protect them from the elements.

Thursday evening’s event offers a taco dinner that includes two tacos, fruit and dessert among other treats. Each guest will receive eight Bingo cards with admission. For guests who like to play more than one game at a time, there will be extra Bingo cards available for one dollar each. Dinner will begin at 5:30, and Bingo will begin at 6:30. Eight games. Six of the games planned are with regular Bingo and the last two will be Blackout Bingo games. There is $200 prize for the winners of each of the Blackout games.

“We have had donations from the community of various prizes, lots of them gift cards for cash and from grocery stores, that will go as prizes for the regular Bingo games,” said Miller. “That’s kind of enticing the way the economy is right now.” A bake sale will also offer other donation opportunities to guests.

Miller wants to invite members of the community to join the auxiliary in its work. “We are always looking for new members from the community who have a heart to serve and would like to work with us. They can call the administrative office at the hospital at 307-885-5800 and ask for me.”

“We are looking forward to a fun night and hope for a good turnout,” said Miller. “This is something fun to do and it’s a wonderful social event. The main reason is to help serve the hospital, to make their talents and abilities better used by helping to provide equipment that improves the services that they’re able to offer the community.”

Tickets to the fundraiser are available at the door for $15 per guest.
