• Nearly 200 animals were sold in the 2024 LCF Livestock Auction
Kyle Fox, of Kemmerer, sold his Grand Champion Market Steer at the Lincoln County Fair Livestock Auction last Saturday for $15,000, which has been suggested is a record sale amount for the LCF. Fox was one of several youths who raised their animals over the last year and sold them at the auction.
The Reserve Champion Market Steer ribbon went to Paisley Harbach of Smoot. Jacob Choma, of Etna, took home the Grand Champion Market Swine ribbon, and his younger sister, Amber, took home the Grand Champion Market Lamb ribbon. The Reserve Champion Market Lamb was raised and offered by Aimee Lane of Thayne. The Grand Champion Market Goat was presented by Stone Wight of Bancroft, and Raegan Johnson, of Auburn, earned the Reserve Champion Market Goat ribbon.
Nearly 200 animals were presented at the auction, and many more were judged at the fair, including poultry and rabbits. Some youths offered more than one animal in the fair but are allowed to only show one themselves. If they have more than one animal, they ask a friend to show the animal in the owners’ name. These youth participate in 4-H and FFA and dedicate themselves fully to raising and caring for their animals throughout the spring and summer before the fair.
