Primary Election results from Lincoln County now tabulated

The Primary Election for the State of Wyoming was held on August 20, 2024 with party decisions being made for the General Election in November in the case of the U.S. Senate and U.S House races. Many local races such as county commissioner and Wyoming Legislature positions were of interest with the vast majority of the county and state voting on the Republican ticket. 

Results are considered unofficial until certified by the Lincoln County Clerk. 

In the race of the U.S. Senate, incumbent John Barrasso (2.935 votes) carried the day over other Republican challengers John Holtz (236 votes) and Reid Rasner (1,133 votes). Scott D. Morrow was the lone candidate on the Democratic side. 

In the tally for the U.S. House of Representatives, incumbent Harriet Hageman (3,693 votes) defeated Steven R. Helling (597 votes) on the Republican side with Kyle G. Cameron running alone on the Democratic ticket. 

In the contest for Lincoln County Commissioner with one seat available, Mel Shumway led the way with 1,328 votes over incumbent Jerry Hansen (1,230 votes), Joe Heward (836 votes) and Eileen Merritt (808 votes). 

House District 21 was up for grabs with no incumbent after Lane Allred did not seek reelection. McKay Erickson (1,811 votes) defeated Deb Wolfley (559 votes) for this position on the Republican ticket with no Democratic challenger. House District 21 covers most of Star Valley from Etna to Smoot. 

Andrew Byron (627 votes), the incumbent for House District 22, ran unopposed. His area includes portions of Teton and Sublette County and also Star Valley Ranch and Alpine. 

In South Lincoln County, Thomas Crank and Scott Heiner squared off for House District 18 with Heiner taking 603 votes to Crank’s 483. This area includes areas of Uinta and Sublette counties as well.  

In a hotly contested three-person race for Senate District 14, the position was open with Fred Baldwin not seeking reelection. the results from Lincoln County favored Laura Taliaferro Pearson who claimed 841 votes. Albert Sommers climbed 323 votes and Bill Winney finished with 108 votes. This area also includes portions of Sublette County. 

Dan Dockstader (2,874 votes) ran unopposed for Senate District 16 which includes portions of Lincoln, Teton and Sublette counties.
