LCSD No. 2 welcomes 24 new teachers

New teachers and staff joining LCSD No. 2 this year are pictured L to R: Angie Schweitzer-Hendrix, Bryan Burton, Alysen Johnson, Robb Mottle, Kaycee Wagner, Marie Erickson, Becky Cox, Michael Moyes, Jamie Osmond, Caitland Snow, Tess Vrska, Ellie Kearsley, Grayson Hicks, Danyel Turner, Melissa Bruemmer, Johannah Christie, Ryan Henderson, Brady Thompson, Rob Erickson, Jennifer Thompson, Michelle Best, Robbie Everett, Tanner Sypherd and Carolyn Gordon.

Michelle Best will be teaching Business at Star Valley High School. She is a graduate of the University of Utah and Western Governors University in Business Education. Michelle was a tax accountant for 18 years but chose to begin teaching five years ago. She loves to read, cook, spend time outdoors, play the piano, and spend time with friends and family. Michelle and her spouse have three children.

Melissa Bruemmer is assigned to teach at Etna Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s from Northwest Missouri State. She has worked in Special Education and as a classroom teacher with grades 1-5.  Melissa loves reading, cooking and trying new recipes.

Bryan Burton will serve as a math teacher at Star Valley High School. He received his training at the University of Wyoming and completed his Student Teaching experience in Lovell last spring. Bryan enjoys staying physically and mentally active by being outdoors, playing sports and working together with his wife as they raise three children.

Johannah Christie has been assigned to teach 5th grade at Etna Elementary School. She completed her training at Chadron State College in 2024 and served as substitute teacher with LCSD No. 2 while completing her training. Johannah loves spending time in the mountains, days on the palisades, and watching the seasons change in Wyoming. Her parents are Dare and Chris Christie, and she has three siblings.

Becky Cox is assigned to teach at Thayne Elementary School.  She received her training through the University of Phoenix and has taught students in all elementary grade levels in Arizona and Texas. No matter the activity, Becky enjoys being outdoors with her family. She and her husband, Bill have three children, including a daughter-in-law, and three grandsons.

Marie Erickson will be serving as an Elementary School Counselor throughout LCSD No. 2. She earned her credentials from the University of Wyoming in 2010. Marie enjoys music, dancing, reading and spending time with friends and family. She and her husband Zane have been married 14 years and they have two daughters and a son.

Rob Erickson is assigned to serve in the Bridges Program at Swift Creek High School. Rob finished his training at Utah State University in 2013.  He has taught High Needs Life Skills in Arizona and Nevada. Rob’s interests include working on classic cars and trucks, camping, hunting, and following his children’s sports adventures. He and his wife have been married 17 years and they have four children.

Robbie Everett will be joining the staff at Swift Creek High School. He graduated from Utah State University 1991 and completed a second degree at University Nevada Las Vegas in 2000. Robbie has served as a science teacher and as a School Counselor in districts all over the nation. He enjoys horses, mules, hunting, backpacking, fishing, and riding dirt and road motorcycles. He and his wife Kathy have six children and eight grandchildren.

Carolyn Gordon has been assigned as a Special Education Teacher. She completed a master’s program in Special Education and taught Computer Science Specials at Afton and Osmond Elementary Schools. Carolyn enjoys photography, hiking, traveling and rock collecting.  She has three sons.

Ryan Henderson will be at Etna Elementary School. He graduated from BYU-Idaho in 2023, and has taught Life Skills, Study Skills, and Special Education skills. Ryan has served as a long-term sub in Rexburg and a SPED Paraprofessional at Star Valley Middle School. He enjoys trail running, creative writing, 3D printing, reading, cooking and long walks on the beach. Ryan is married to Kenna Call Henderson and they love their cat, Moo.

Grayson Hicks has been assigned to teach 2nd Grade at Thayne Elementary School. Grayson graduated from Utah Tech University in St. George in December 2023. His family includes Warren, Allison, Tristian and Hunter Hicks.

Alysen Johnson will be serving as a Speech Language Pathologist at Thayne Elementary School and received her credentials from Utah State University in 2024.  Alysen work for Juab County School District as a Speech-Language Pathology during her graduate program. She enjoys riding horses and fishing.

Ellie Kearsley will be teaching 1st Grade at Thayne Elementary School.  She received her training at BYU and General Elementary Education and spent some time teaching in Driggs, ID.  Ellie loves to ski and dirt bike. She has been married to Kyle Kearsley for nearly two years.

Robb Mottl will be joining the staff at Etna Elementary School. He graduated from Winona State University in 2006, then taught 4th  and 5th  grades in Utah and Washington. Robb enjoys snowboarding, skiing, trail running, hiking, backpacking and rock climbing. He and his wife, Jenn, have two dogs.

Michael Moyes will be at Etna Elementary School. He completed his training through Western Wyoming Community College and Utah State University. He has experience teaching 4th grade and enjoys hiking, skiing, sports and reading. His parents are Scott and Tanya Moyes.

Jamie Osmond is assigned to teach 1st grade at Thayne Elementary School. She graduated from Western Governors University last April and served LCSD No. 2 as an aide with students who speak English as a Second Language and as a Pre-Kindergarten substitute. Jamie enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with her husband, Robert and their two children.

Brady Thompson will be at Cokeville Elementary School. He completed his training at Utah State University in 2013, and has taught in Special Education and in a General Elementary Education classroom at Mountain View High School and Rock River High School. Brady enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashlee, and their three sons.

Jennifer Thompson is assigned to Serve at Etna Elementary School. She received her training through Western Governor’s University, and spent two years as a Special Education Paraprofessional and three years as a PE teacher.  She recently married Kenny Thompson, and together, they have eight children.

Danyel Turner has a Special Education assignment in the district. She earned her degree from Valley City State University and has served as a paraprofessional at SVHS for 20 years in the Life Skills program. Danyel enjoys the outdoors, crocheting, teaching swimming, camping and spending time with family. She and her husband, Nathan, have four children and four grandchildren.

Angie Schweitzer-Hendrix has been hired to service LCSD No. 2 as an Occupational Therapist.  She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Utah and her Graduate program at the University of South Dakota. She worked in the NICU at Utah Valley Hospital for 16 years. She has also spent time as a therapist at the University of Utah Medical Center and St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City. Angie enjoys any outdoor activity, travel, and being with friends and family. She and her husband, Brandon, have a daughter and two sons.

Caitland Snow has been assigned to Star Valley High School in the Special Education Department. She received her credentials from Idaho State University in 2023. She loves to kayak, camp, hike, and draw. She and her husband, Dallin, have an infant daughter.

Tanner Sypherd will be working at Thayne Elementary School. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2020 and taught Special Education in Tuscon, AZ at a STEM School. Tanner enjoys cooking, backpacking, traveling and gardening. He and his wife, Annelie are expecting their first child.

Tess Vrska, is assigned to teach 6th Grade at Etna Elementary School. She received her training from Western Governors University and BYU-Idaho. Tess has taught Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten in Pinedale, Jackson and Cedar City, Utah.  Tess loves spending time with family, wake surfing, rodeoing, raising Texas Longhorns and hunting.  She and her husband, Tim, have three children.

Kaycee Wagner will serve at Thayne Elementary School. She received her degree at Monmouth University and enjoys running and hiking. She is married to Tye and they have three children.
