Benefit golf tournament for McPherson happening next week

• Kaden was injured in a cycling accident around Palisades.

Cedar Creek Golf Course is hosting a benefit tournament on Saturday, September 14 to aid the family of Kaden McPherson with medical bills incurred from a cycling injury he recently sustained.

A junior at Star Valley High School, McPherson was riding near Palisades with friends when he crashed his bike, sustaining serious injuries that have required a prolonged treatment and recovery. His mother and three younger siblings have been financially taxed by the financial demands of his treatment.

Supporters are “trying to raise some money to help his family and help that boy get back on his feet,” said Stephanie McJunkin, the Pro Shop Manager at Cedar Creek and Aspen Hills Golf Courses.

The tournament is organized as a four-man scramble, and anyone can register. The cost to participate is $500 per team. Check in for the tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Cedar Creek course and tee off is scheduled for 9:30. Prizes will go to the top three finishing teams. Participants and other guests can enjoy a raffle and silent auction in addition to a burger and hot dog lunch sponsored by Quality Air Solutions.

“I’ve been a resident of Star Valley for over 20 years and I’ve never lived in an area where neighbors are so willing to help each other in times of need,” said Chris Stall, who has organized the benefit and serves as the mechanic for Cedar Creek. “It’s heartwarming the way people come together. I’m honored to help Kaden in his time of need and would love the community’s support in the upcoming golf benefit to raise some funds for him.”

Folks can donate directly to the McPherson Family by Venmo @kristamcpherson_3.

To register for the tournament, call or text Stall at 307-699-1820 or contact the Pro Shop office directly at 307-883-2669.
