The SVHS Golf teams competed in Casper on Thursday and Friday and tried to qualify for the Wyoming 4A State tournament wihich is scheduled for September 20-21 at Valli Vu Golf Course in Afton.
With the extra pressure of trying to qualify the Braves and Lady Braves were in two tight rounds and at the end of the 36 holes the Lady Braves were able to qualify as the fourth team out of the 4A West but the Braves placed fifth, just 12 strokes out of the final qualifying spot.
While the boys team will not get to compete for a team title, the trio of Aiden DeCoria, Sean Stout and Deegan Hill will play as individuals.
Senior Jordyn Horsley had a great weekend as she shot a 171 and placed second overall behind Khloe Romo of Kelly Walsh and her 165. Kambree Johnson shot a 197 and Amelia Green was the third scorer with a 214. Paylan Merritt shot a 226 and Kate R/icks shot a 232.
Evanston’s Ryker Lind had the top overall score for the boys division with a 143. Stout shot a 167 (14th), DeCora shot a 168 (15th) and Hill shot a 170 (17th(t). The top 20 players qualify gt play at State.
