The SVHS cross-country teams ran at the Tiger-Grizz Invite in Idaho Falls on Friday afternoon. The boys ran in the seeded division while the Lady Braves ran in the Varsity ‘A’ division.
Habtamu Wetzel and Kylee Linford, both typically varsity runners, did not run at Tiger-Grizz due to illness.
Jase Burton led for much of the race and finished second with a time of 16:04.8, only trailing Rocky Mountain’s Cody Lucas who finished with a 16:01.4.
Junior Colton Cranney also ran very fast time of 16:39.4 which was good for seventh overall. Brigham Hahn was 25th overall with a 17:18.6, Matt Heywood was 53rd with an 18:23.0 and freshman Luke Harris placed as a varsity runner for the first time with a 54th place finish and a time of 18:24.7.
Sophomore Carlee Angell was fifth overall with a time of 20:59.7 and senior Macy Kennignton was close behind with a 21:01.1 in sixth place. Senior Alexis Angell finished with a 21:31.1 (16th), Gracey Visser ran a 22:05.1 (29th) and Kaitlyn Bach returned from injury and was the team’s fifth scorer with a 22:34.6 good for 45th. Annie Herd of Centennial won the race with a time of 19:58.6.
As a team the Lady Braves and Skyline (ID) tied with a score of 100 with Skyline winning the team nod on criteria.
The program is off until they run at the Bob Firman event in Boise, Idaho on the last weekend of September.
