• Facebook auction for Mr. McNaughton concludes Sept. 29
Funds are being raised for a local teacher at Star Valley High School to help cover expenses following a medical incident. The fundraiser is being held through a Facebook auction in the event titled “Craig McNaughton Strong!!”
“Craig has been fighting for his life all while being a teacher and supporting his family,” said Kelley Bowers, the event organizer, on Facebook. “He has had a kidney disease and has already had a transplant a few years back. Last year he became sick and was in and out of the hospital. He now goes to Idaho several times a week after school for dialysis. Last Friday he had a medical emergency at school where he had a seizure. He was life flighted and has been unresponsive since. In the last couple of days he had a stroke. Faith is by his side and helping him fight. We are trying to help with the financial burden so she can focus on her husband.”
Faith, Craig’s wife, is also the Head Coach for the Star Valley Cheerleaders. The family has three children.
“When I first reached out to Faith she was hesitant about asking for help but I know how amazing our community is,” states Bowers. “When one falls we come together to help pick up the pieces.”
People can help by donating items to the Facebook auction. Current items range from home baked goods, homemade items, donated products and services from local businesses and tickets to various sporting events. As of Tuesday afternoon nearly 50 items had been donated to the auction. Anyone can bid on a specific auction item by simply stating a price in the comments under the item. The auction will close at 2:00 p.m. on September 29. The highest bidder will then pay for the item with 100% of the funds going towards the McNaughton family.
The auction can be found by searching for “Craig McNaughton Strong!! (SVHS Teacher)” on Facebook. Anyone wishing to donate directly without participating in the auction can do so via Venmo to Faith McNaughton under the handle @Faith-McNaughton.
