Marcella’s Italian Pizzeria and Restaurant is hosting their newly offered Goodbye Summer and Hello Fall Craft Show on Saturday, September 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their restaurant location at 130 US 89 in Thayne, just south of Broulims. Proceeds from the fair will benefit Lucky’s Place Animal Shelter.
Dwayne and Shanna Gulley, who have been in the restaurant business for over three decades, jumped on a recent opportunity to purchase their building in Thayne, and open an Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Marcella’s is named for their daughter, and offers authentic Italian cuisine and pizza Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m.
Drawn to Star Valley’s mountainous beauty, The Gulley Family moved to the area from Alabama in 2019. Before the couple purchased their business, Shanna enjoyed a home-based business and was involved with craft shows selling tumblers and jewelry.
With the more demanding schedule of the restaurant, she has been unable to dedicate time to craft fairs, and misses that element of interacting with the public. “We’ve got a good enough property here,” she mused in an interview with SVI Media earlier in the month. “I thought ‘Why not have a craft show here and also raise some money for Lucky’s in the process?’”
She hopes to make the craft fair a tradition of sorts in the spring and the fall, with this event hosting vendors who offer tumblers, jewelry, leather work, hats, homemade lip balms and body lotions, paintings, Scentsy, horsehair jewelry and keepsakes, food-based medicinal remedies, handcrafted pottery and other items.
Proceeds from booth fees and raffle tickets will go to Lucky’s Place. Guests are encouraged to bring donations for the animal shelter, which is in need of several items. For each item brought to the fair as a donation, guests will receive an extra five raffle tickets.
“We’re just trying to raise some extra money for them,” Shanna said. “We are huge animal lovers, and we appreciate and love what they do for the valley. We just want to give back a little bit.”
Lucky’s Place is in need of leashes, paper towels, dog bone treats, collars, pens, clipboards, milk replacement for kittens, trash bags, dog food, cat food, canned cat food, cat litter, cleaning supplies, towels, blankets and puppy pads and pet cat carriers.
“The valley is wonderful when it comes to raising donations for local families and local nonprofits such as Lucky’s. This is just another opportunity and a way to pay it forward and help our local community.”
There is still vending space. Interested crafters can email Shanna at marcellasitalian307@yahoo.com.
