After experiencing the ceramics world in Kansas City (KC), Hanna Love embraced the art before moving to Star Valley.

While in KC, Love worked in a pottery studio for three months and she instantly was drawn to the art. “In the three months I was there, I was asking all the questions,” recalls Love, eager to learn not only about the art itself but also how events were organized around it.

She heard about a man in Wyoming that was selling his ceramics and Love decided to take that opportunity to buy what he had and use them as she and her husband moved to Wyoming. Love began helping her father Jack Swensen run Jack’Stand food truck, which has now become a brick-and-mortar restaurant this year on Main Street in Afton.

After a unit opened up on Main Street, an opportunity presented itself to Love.  She would be able to have her studio and her father’s restaurant connected, providing a way to work in both areas during the day and benefit from one another.

Love shared that those who come to the studio will have the option to get food, snacks and drinks from the restaurant while they come to enjoy some ceramic painting. “If someone wants a Chai Tea Latte, they can go over [to the restaurant], grab that, and come back and paint.”

Love recently returned from a hands-on pottery convention and training to gear up for her grand opening, which was held this past Saturday.

Ceramic painting is a great activity for all ages as well as for group events such as parties, bridal showers and more. With items like dinnerware, cups, piggy banks, and figurines, Love Family Studio offers a broad selection for those looking to explore their creative side.

Located at 468 S Washington St. in Afton, the studio is planning several events in the near future, including Halloween parties in October. For updates on upcoming events, Love encourages the community to follow Love Family Studio on Facebook or reach out via email at
