The University of Wyoming Extension has launched the “2024 Wyoming Specialty Crop Directory,” a valuable resource designed to encourage local food production and consumption across the state, including Lincoln County. This updated directory includes nearly 1,100 listings of producers, specialty crops, and local food products, making it an essential tool for both residents and visitors. Among these listings, 25 are situated in Lincoln County.

In Lincoln County, residents can explore a variety of offerings, from fresh vegetables and fruits to homemade goods like jams, salsas, and even hard cider. The directory highlights local farmers’ markets, co-ops, and farm stands, showcasing the abundance of agricultural talent and passion within the community. Project coordinator Robert Waggener emphasizes the importance of connecting consumers with local producers. “There are numerous venues where you can purchase locally produced goods, and this directory lists them all,” he stated.

In addition to listings for specialty crops, the directory includes information on community gardens, county fairs, and local organizations involved in agriculture. It serves as a vital resource for those looking to engage with the local food movement, helping to support small businesses and enhance community ties.

As the local food scene continues to thrive, Waggener encourages everyone to explore the directory and visit local markets. “You will be amazed at the wide variety of products that Wyoming producers—both big and small—are offering,” he said.
