Star Valley Raft and Paddle invites the community to join them in a meaningful initiative: the inaugural Salt River Fall Clean Up on October 5, 2024. Organized by owner Noah Christenson, this event marks a heartfelt way to give back to the river and the surrounding community after a successful first year in business.

“We are thrilled to cap off a wonderful first year by giving back to the river and our community!” Christenson expresses with enthusiasm. The event promises to be both rewarding and enjoyable. While many participants may take to the water to collect trash, there are ample opportunities for those who prefer to keep their feet dry. Litter often accumulates along the shores and in parking lots, providing plenty of tasks that don’t require getting wet.

Participants are encouraged to check in between 9-10 a.m. at the Diversion River Access, where they will enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and donuts as they gather and organize into groups. Each volunteer will be entered into a raffle for exciting prizes, including a grand prize of a private paddlesport lesson or a multi-day camp experience.

The Salt River, like many rivers, is a blend of nature and human activity. While floating down its serene waters can feel like an escape into the wild, moments of disruption—like floating over debris or encountering tangled fishing line—can jolt one back to reality. The Fall Clean Up aims to enhance the natural beauty of the river, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a pristine environment while paddling, fishing, or simply appreciating the view.

Beyond the immediate benefits of cleaning up the river, this initiative serves as a way to foster connections within the Star Valley community. “We hope to grow this into a popular annual event that helps people connect with their local waterway and each other,” says Christenson. The clean-up not only offers a chance to beautify the river but also encourages participants to engage with it in a new way—scanning for debris, appreciating the ecosystems that thrive along the banks, and even discovering new sections of the river.

Join Star Valley Raft and Paddle on October 5 to help preserve the beauty of the Salt River for generations to come!
