Slug Creek Fire burns between Soda Springs and Star Valley

Fire crews in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest responded to the Slug Creek fire burning approximately 20 miles east of Springs on Sunday, October 13. Tow hand crews, various air resources and four engines worked through the day keeping the fire to approximately 60 acres in size.

Crews will be on scene again Monday strengthening the line.

The Caribou-Targhee National Forest asks everyone to use caution when creating on public lands and to not leave campfires unattended. Despite cooler evenings vegetation is very dry and susceptible to fire growth.

No additional details about the fire have been made available. Smoke from the fire could be seen rising over the mountains west of Star Valley on Sunday afternoon.
