• Community invited to share insights and discuss future water projects at upcoming meeting
The Wyoming Water Development Office (WWDO), in collaboration with the Star Valley Conservation District, is set to host public scoping meetings as part of its Level I Watershed Study for the Salt River Watershed. Y2 Consultants and Sunrise Engineering are conducting this comprehensive study aimed at evaluating various aspects of the watershed, including current functions, irrigation systems, stream health, and the vulnerability of water systems to wildfire.
The Level I study is crucial for understanding existing water projects within the valley and identifying potential future small water projects. To gather insights from the community, several outreach events will be organized to engage with residents and gain a better understanding of the watershed’s dynamics.
The upcoming outreach event will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the Town of Afton Civic Center. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option will be available via Zoom; registration details can be found online.
The meeting will feature a presentation on the WWDO’s Small Water Project Program, including funding opportunities and requirements. Attendees will also receive updates on the progress of the watershed study and discuss potential projects that could benefit the community.
Residents with questions about the Salt River Watershed Level I Study or the public scoping meetings can reach out to the project managers: Bree Burton at Y2 Consultants via email at bree@y2consultants.com, Mabel Jones at the WWDO at mabel.jones1@wyo.gov, or Kay Lynn Nield, Manager of the Star Valley Conservation District, at kield@starvalleycd.org.
