Thayne has one open seat

 

• Position will be filled by mayor’s recommendation, council decides.

The Town of Thayne will be working on an open council seat with the start of the new year.

Two open seats were up for election in the November General Election, but only one person filed,

Nikole Passey received 152 votes for one of the seats or just over 86 percent of the vote.

However, one seat remains open on the council with no one filing for the position as part of the early election process.

Michael Allred received four write in votes for the seat but has declined the position. His name is noted as a certified write-in candidate on the official results.

Mayor Devin Simpson will recommend a person to fill the position to the town council. The council has the option of accepting or rejecting the recommendation.

Lincoln County Clerk April Brunski confirmed for SVI Media, that municipal appointments are coordinated with the town government.
