Brook Merritt, Chief Financial Officer of the Bank of Star Valley, recently appeared on the Weekday Wake-Up Show to highlight two beloved community programs: the Feed the Angels food drive and the Angel Tree gift program. Now in its eleventh year, the Feed the Angels campaign aims to support all three local food banks, which are experiencing increased demand this holiday season.

“This year, the food banks are struggling and need essential items like pasta, Hamburger Helper, and cereal—basic everyday supplies,” Merritt shared. Community members can drop off food donations at any Bank of Star Valley location or at the Brolium’s stores in Thayne and Afton. For those wishing to contribute financially, Merritt added, “The bank is willing to match up to $2,000 in donations, and another individual has pledged to do the same.” All contributions will benefit the food banks by December 13.

In addition to the food drive, the Angel Tree program—a tradition since the bank’s founding 30 years ago—is currently in full swing. “We have over 90 angels that need to be adopted this year, which is more than ever. It’s definitely a sign of the times, and we hope to get these kids adopted out this week.” To participate, visit BOSV.com and click on the red banner at the top. Each child is assigned a number for confidentiality, and Merritt assured, “Only three of us at the bank see the names of the angels.”

Participants are encouraged to buy gifts and return them to any bank location by December 18. For those who prefer not to shop, monetary donations are welcomed, and staff members will happily take care of the shopping.

Merritt expressed her gratitude for community support, stating, “Every year, I get stressed thinking we won’t get all these kids adopted or that we won’t meet our goals, and the community always comes through for us. If you can help and want to feel a little Christmas spirit, come join us.”
